CONSCIENTIZATION PROGRAMME

In this week I conducted conscientization programme on DRUG ABUSE. I chose this topic in a girl's school because now a days use of drugs is increasing even among girls. And girls can do a lot to avoid drug abuse. Many people don't understand why or how other people become addicted to drugs. They may mistakenly think that those who use drugs lack moral principles or willpower and that they could stop their drug use simply by choosing to. In reality, drug addiction is a complex disease, and quitting usually takes more than good intentions or a strong will. Drugs change the brain in ways that make quitting hard, even for those who want to. Fortunately, researchers know more than ever about how drugs affect the brain and have found treatments that can help people recover from drug addiction and lead productive lives.
What Is drug addiction?
Addiction is a chronic disease characterized by drug seeking and use that is compulsive, or difficult to control, despite harmful consequences. The initial decision to take drugs is voluntary for most people, but repeated drug use can lead to brain changes that challenge an addicted person’s self-control and interfere with their ability to resist intense urges to take drugs. These brain changes can be persistent, which is why drug addiction is considered a "relapsing" disease—people in recovery from drug use disorders are at increased risk for returning to drug use even after years of not taking the drug.

For teaching the lesson "The School for Sympathy" I introduced news paper cuttings related to disabled persons, who overcame those difficulties and became successful in life. Then I provided them information related to special schools, especially such type of school's in the Kollam city. January 5 - 13

On January 5'we re-joined school after examination. Wishing them a Happy New Year I gave them the exam paper on the first day itself. With 35 marks Abhirami A.S and Kavya Varnan shared first position. Most of the students tried to answer the questions. Most of them got confused about the rearranging question from the lesson 'Rosa Parks Sat Still.' In the next class we discussed the question paper and discussed the grammar portions.
On 9 January Sangeetha miss came to observe my class. I started the class by appreciating Abhirami, who got first prize in the District level Kalolsavm. Today I started the lesson 'The School for Sympathy.' I think I can perform well. Today Preetha miss too observed my class along with the optional teacher. On Tuesday there was no class due to strike. But some students came to school, so we took class, I discussed phrasal verbs with them. Then we corrected the answer sheet of Art, Physical Education and Work Experience. On Wednesday, there was  PTA meeting in the afternoon. Now there was shortage of water in the school, so students took more time in the noon time, so the timing of class changed.
